Persistent rain over Queens Sports Club here on Tuesday has delayed the start of play in the scheduled tri-nations match between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
Play was due to commence at 9am local time (8am GMT) but this is not possible, umpire Russell Tiffin told AFP.
"We plan to inspect at 12.30 and if we cannot start then we will have to abandon, he said."
Groundsman Douglas Higgins said the outfield is holding up and would be playable if the rain did not continue for long.
Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka will get two points each if the match has to be abandoned, which will put the home team on top of the table with six points and Sri Lanka bottom with two. The Sri Lankans lost to India on Sunday.
India have won one and lost one, giving them four points.
If the match is abandoned the series will continue in Harare on Thursday.
In the event of play Zimbabwe will choose from: Elton Chigumbura (capt), Greg Lamb, Tatenda Taibu, Vusi Sibanda, Craig Ervine, Brendan Taylor, Hamilton Masakadza, Prosper Utseya, Graeme Cremer, Ray Price, Edward Rainsford, Chris Mpofu, Andy Blignaut, Chamu Chibhabha and Charles Coventy.
Sri Lanka from: Tillekeratne Dilshan (capt), Upul Tharanga, Tilan Samaraweera, Angelo Mathews, Chamara Kapugedera, Chamara Silva, Jeevan Mendis, Thisara Perera, Numan Kulasekera, Suraj Randiv, Dilhara fernando, Ajantha Mendis, Thusara Mirando, Dinesh Chandimal and Lahiru Thirimana.
