Rusi Surti in critical condition

Former Indian cricketer, Rusi Surti is in a critical state after being admitted to Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital at around 10 am on Thursday.


The 76-year-old Queensland-based Surti was shifted to the hospital's Intensive Care Unit and was put on a ventilator after he was brought in unconscious.

Doctors at the hospital suspect that he is suffering from a neurological disorder. They also do not rule out the possibility of a stroke.u00a0A senior doctor at the hospital said the right side of Surti's body was showing signs of weakness. He is suffering repeated episodes of unconsciousness and his condition
is critical.

Dr R R Pulgaonkar, CEO of Jaslok Hospital, said: "Further u00a0investigations are on to diagnose his ailment. His heart rate is slow and we suspect he is suffering from a neurological disorder. However, the exact cause will be determined after further tests are conducted." Surti represented India in 26 Test matches from 1960 to 1969. He settled in Australia after performing well on India's 1967-68 tour there.u00a0
