Sachin Tendulkar added another gem to his glittering crown yesterday when he equalled former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad's feat of playing six World Cups on Saturday. The appearance also made Tendulkar the most capped ODI playeru00a0-- one more than Sanath Jayasuria's 444 matches.

The opening match of the 10th World Cup witnessed a rare moment. Before the start of the match, the national anthems of the two teams were played. The significance was that both poems were written by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, whose 150th birth anniversary is being celebrated this year.

Rabindra sangeet also brought India and Bangladesh together, when former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar, a TV commentator here, endeared himself to the local media by singing a Tagore song, "aami chini go chini tomare o go bideshini."
