The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has lashed out at Australia spin legend Shane Warne, who said the Board was "playing favourites" by influencing bigger city teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and treating low-key Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab unfairly.
"Is it because the franchises (Punjab and Rajasthan) have done something wrong or is there something sinister behind it? Is there an ulterior motive?" he asked. "To me the IPL must be transparent, open, honest, and above all, fair to all teams! They need to treat them equally; no teacher's pets," Warne wrote on his blog yesterday.
BCCI hit back at Warne, asking the former Royals' skipper to get his facts right.
"He (Warne) does not know the details of the whole scenario. Has he even bothered to look into the documents BCCI sent to the franchises? Does he know the reason why Rajasthan and Punjab were axed?" a furious BCCI official told MiD DAY.
