West Zone will meet South in the final of the JK Bose T20 cricket tournament held during the 39th National Convention of the Sports Journalists' Federation of India (SJFI), currently underway in Bhubaneshwar. West Zone with one win, against North and a tie, will now play South in a virtual final on September 18.
In a rain curtailed tie yesterday, West were in control from the word go after they put East into bat on a damp wicket. Vaibhav Pawar picked up three wickets, while Ashwin Ferro bagged two as West reduced East to 15 for five early in the innings. East managed to reach 85 for the loss of six wickets before the covers came on and the match had to be finally called off.
On Day One, West defeated North Zone in a rain-curtailed match by nine wickets. Put into bat, West restricted North to a paltry 81 for the loss of seven wickets in 12 overs. In reply, West notched up the required score in 9.1 overs for the loss of just one wicket. Devendra Pandey was not out on 32 and Ferro was unbeaten on two.
