New Delhi: The Supreme Court yesterday modified its earlier order to allow any official to be an office bearer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or state association for nine years each. The court in its January 3 order had said a person can cumulatively hold the office for nine years both in the BCCI and state associations, thereby taking total tenure in the country's cricket administration to a cumulative period of 18 years.

The bench of Justice Dipak Misra, Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud received a list of nine names in a sealed envelope given by lawyers Gopal Subramaniam and Anil Divanas for the appointment of a committee of administrators who will run the BCCI.

List withheld
The two lawyers have submitted the list to the SC for BCCI's interim administrative committee to oversee the implementation of the Lodha panel reforms. The apex court directed not to make the list public until its decision.

With the SC making it clear, the two executive functionaries - joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary and treasurer Aniruddh Chaudhary are expected to resume office.

Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) official CK Khanna on capacity of being the senior-most Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president will be the acting president. Yesterday's order also means that Ratnakar Shetty and MV Sridhar will continue in their respective capacities as GM (Game Development) and GM (Cricket Operations) after there were complaints about them having been officebearers in their respective states for more than nine years. However, all the officebearers will have a short term as the Supreme Court appointed three-member administrative committee will be taking over from January 24.

Amitabh to return as well
It will be Jharkhand's Amitabh, who now will get back his executive powers to convene meetings while treasurer Aniruddh will be an authorised signatory in financial matters till the administrators form the Apex Council.
