Anup Yadav's splendid century powered Dnyandeep Seva Mandal (Nerul) to a commanding position against VN Sule Guruji English Medium School (Dadar) on Day One of their Dream Sports Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school Giles Shield semi-final at Parsee Gymkhana on Monday.
Anup powered his way to 127 off 95 balls to help Dnyandeep post a strong score of 340 all out (75.1 overs) on the opening day of the three-day clash.
His knock was a fine blend of patience and aggression, which included 24 boundaries and one maximum. He received solid support from Neil Naik (95), and Shivam Singh (41).
For VN Sule, Sharvil Nalawade emerged as the standout bowler (5-94).
Aaradhya Kadam chipped in with three wickets (3-59), while Jay Mhatre claimed two (2-62).
At Stumps, VN Sule were 19-0 (nine overs), with Sharvil Nalawade unbeaten on 10 and Devang Koli on six.
The other semi-final between Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) and Swami Vivekanand International SSC (Borivli) begins today.
