Australia women's cricket team vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner has broken her silence on the cheating scandal with teammate Georgia Voll which led to her marriage collapsing, admitting she made "poor decisions."
Gardner's relationship with Voll, 23, became public a few days after Australia's T20 World Cup triumph at Lord's in July. Gardner's then wife Monica Wright, 38, posted a picture of Voll on Instagram with the caption: "This is who my wife cheated on me with." The story overshadowed the Australian team's achievement.
On Wednesday, Gardner, 29, told The Australian newspaper that she never expected things to go public. "My reputation has been tarnished. I didn't expect the situation to take the path it did, or to become as public as it did. I know deep down [my teammates] still think I'm a good person and I've just made some poor decisions. That's the best thing, and being able to reflect on that is important for me," said Gardner, who married Wright in April 2025 after first meeting her on a dating app back in 2020.
