'As for the selector, authorisation has been taken...': BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held an Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday at the Headquarters in Mumbai.

Former Team India's pacer Ajit Agarkar's contract as the chairman of the men's senior selection committee will be ending next month.

After the meeting, the BCCI's vice-president Rajeev Shukla said that the authorisation has been taken for the role of the selector and the decision will be taken accordingly.

"As for the selector, authorisation has been taken. We will decide on the selector later," he said.

He also confirmed that Arun Singh Dhumal and M Khairul Jamal Majumdar have been retained in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council.

"The meeting was good; all things were finalised in the meeting. In the IPL Governing Council, the same people have been retained, including Dhumal and Majumdar," said Shukla.

"The AGM also authorised associate membership for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Cricket Association.

"Authorisation has also been obtained for granting associate membership to Andaman and Nicobar Islands Cricket Association. These were the main issues; there was nothing else like that," said the BCCI's vice-president.

Apart from this, the BCCI's secretary Devajit Saikia assured that assured that the missing Asia Cup trophies won by the men's and women's teams will be brought to the headquarters.

"(The) Asia Cup trophies, we hope they will come one day. I will not give you a timeline, but I can assure you that both the trophies will land up in this office of the BCCI at the Wankhede Stadium," he told the reporters.

He then mentioned the Indian women's team's victory over Japan in the ongoing Asian Games 2026 and is also hopeful about Harmanpreet Kaur-led women winning the gold medal in the continental event.

"We congratulated our women's team for their superb victory in Dubai last week. They have very nicely won the first match against Japan and we hope that they will win the gold medal in the Asian Games on 22nd of this month," said Saikia.

The General Body further discussed with state associations measures to support differently-abled cricketers, including providing appropriate facilities and resources to promote their development.

BCCI president Mithun Manhas, vice-president Rajeev Shukla, secretary Devajit Saikia, Bengal Cricket Association president Sourav Ganguly and Jharkhand State Cricket Association secretary Saurabh Tiwary were among the officials present at the AGM.
