Former India batsman Vinod Kambli still hasn't got a backer following his claims that the 1996 World Cup semi-final match against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens was fixed.
The then Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Jagmohan Dalmiya said, "why now? We are unnecessarily making an issue out of something that has happened some 15 years ago of which I am completely unaware of. I have nothing to say."
"People can say whatever they want, but I have nothing to say on these ridiculous claims. People who were involved in the match are making comments and I do not fall in that category as my position was of the Board secretary," Dalmiya told MiD DAY yesterday.
'Nothing to say'
"There is no point prolonging an issue which was never there. It's absolutely ridiculous Anyway, it still hurts that we lost the semi-final." Kambli said on Thursday that he was dropped after the World Cup exit. When asked whether Kambli was indeed dropped on disciplinary grounds, Dalmiya said: "I have nothing to say on any of these issues."
