Rahul Dravid, who holds the world record for most Test catches, is hopeful of reaching the 200-mark by the end of the ongoing two-Test series against Australia.

Ponting has taken 172 catches

Rahul Dravid, who holds the world record for most Test catches, is hopeful of reaching the 200-mark by the end of the ongoing two-Test series against Australia. Speaking exclusively to MiD DAY, Dravid, who has claimed 197 catches, said: "Yes, it is a very nice feeling. It is a very rare occurrence. But all credit goes to our bowlers. If they hadn't bowled superbly, I would have never taken so many catches in my career. I am proud of the team," he said.

Aussie Mark Waugh is second on the all-time catchers' list with 181 in 128 Tests. Ricky Ponting is third with 172 catches.

Dravid knows a thing or two about scoring a Test double hundred, having scored five of them in his illustrious 143-match career. Asked which is more special, a double ton or 200 Test catches, Dravid said: "It is possible to experience the feeling of scoring a double hundred on more than one occasion, but taking 200 catches happens only once. I hope to get there in this series, I am eagerly looking forward to the milestone,"
he said. Having scored a fine knock of 77 on Day Three here, the former India skipper is feeling confident about his batting. "I didn't get many runs in Sri Lanka, but my feet are moving really well now. I am hoping to get many more runs in this series," he said.
