Former Australia skipper Greg Chappell clarified that the group of captains, who wrote an open letter to draw the attention of the Pakistan government towards the plight of a jailed Imran Khan, did not approach any Pakistani players to seek help for their "friend" as they wanted to keep politics out of it.
"We did not approach any Pakistanis. I/we have approached this as a human rights issue, not a political issue. It is hard to avoid politics in a politically charged atmosphere, but I think it weakens our voice if we get into the weeds of politics. This is sticking up for a friend and human being," Chappell, 77, told mid-day.
