Opener Chris Gayle dominated Sri Lanka's bowlers to compile an entertaining 145 not out, leading the West Indies to a healthy 238-1 at tea on day one of the first test.
Gayle took advantage of a good batting pitch at Galle International Stadium to be involved in two century partnerships today: 110 with Adrian Barath and an unbroken 128 with Darren Bravo who was 32 not out at the break.
He reached his 13th test century in style with a six over long off against off-spinner Suraj Randiv.
He scored 18 runs in that over including two sixes and a four and his 157-ball innings included six sixes and 19 fours in total.
Barath was dismissed before lunch for his first half-century.
