HBTMC-Cooper with the winner’s trophy at Bombay Gymkhana
HBTMC-Cooper won the 10th edition of the Prof AS Chagla inter-medical cricket tournament beating Govt Grant Medical College-JJ Hospital by 74 runs in the final at the Bombay Gymkhana recently.
Batting first, HBTMC/Cooper were bowled out for 236 in 44.5 overs with Sanskar Joshi (54 off 57 balls) and Gaurav Khawse (47 off 64 balls) being their principal scorers. Kaif Sayyad (3-29) and Mahesh Jadhav Patil (2-49) were the pick of the bowlers for GGMC-JJ.
In reply, GGMC-JJ were bowled out for 162 in 33.3 overs with Yash Amondikar bagging 5-11 and Siddhant Wani claiming two wickets. Priyanshu Verma and Aadesh Nikam scored 37 each for GGMC-JJ. Amondikar was adjudged player of the match while Sanskar Joshi was named best batter (140 runs in three innings at 46.67) while Ashutosh Parmar (12 wickets in three innings) won the best bowler's award.
Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Dr Aadil Chagla, the force behind this tournament, said the idea is to, "to encourage sports and team spirit among our future doctors."
