ICC on Thursday, October 1 announced the fixtures for 50 over Cricket World Cup 2027.
India, Pakistan and reigning champions Australia have been placed in the same pool for the 2027 ICC Men's ODI World Cup, setting up a high-profile first stage in the tournament.
2023 finalist India will feature in Pool A alongside Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan, co-hosts Zimbabwe and 'Qualifier A'.
Whereas, Pool B comprises Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Qualifier B.
The 14-team World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The tournament will be played under a new format, with the competition moving from the opening pool stage to a Super 7 phase before the semi-finals and final.
India's Pool A campaign will include marquee clashes against Pakistan and Australia, while Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will provide further opposition during the opening stage. The final team in the pool will be determined through the qualification process.
The tournament will feature 14 teams, with the initial pool stage followed by the Super 7. The top teams from the two pools will progress to the next phase, where seven sides will compete for four semi-final places.
The 2027 edition will be particularly significant for India batter Virat Kohli, who has confirmed that the tournament will be his final World Cup appearance for India in the 50-over format. Kohli announced his decision in September and is now focusing on ODI cricket after retiring from Tests and T20Is.
The World Cup is scheduled to be staged across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with the tournament expected to run from October to November 2027.
