In the third T20I match against England, Team India suffered a shocking defeat by a huge margin of 125 runs at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in Nottingham.
Following the loss, former Team India cricketer Sourav Ganguly feels that the loss appears to be a temporary dip in form for the "Men in Blue".
"I am a bit surprised by India's performances. They have been such a strong white-ball side, and this appears to be a temporary dip in form," he said.
Currently, the "Three Lions" are leading the five-match T20I series by 2-0. The first match was abandoned due to rain.
Despite the loss, the former cricketer feels that the visitors can bounce back and should aim to level the ongoing series.
"They have not looked at their best, but India have plenty of quality players and I am sure they will bounce back. Their only option now is to level the series. Every good team goes through difficult phases and finds a way to recover," said Ganguly.
However, he stayed tight-lipped on the omission of wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson from India's playing XI for the concluded two T20I matches.
"That is a call for the team management (to make). It would not be appropriate for me to comment on it," said the 54-year-old former cricketer.
It will be interesting to see if Vaibhav Sooryavanshi manages to step up to the occasion. On the other hand, skipper Shreyas Iyer has also found himself at the centre of criticism after facing consecutive defeats since his appointment for the captaincy role.
The loss also marked Team India's fifth defeat in the shortest format of the game. Harry Brook-led Englishmen will be eager to secure another win and clinch the five-match T20I series against the "Men in Blue".
The fourth T20I match between Team India and England is scheduled to be played on July 9 at the Bristol County Ground in the district of Ashley Down. The hosts will look to secure another win and seal the series.
