Ind vs Eng 4th Test: Sai Sudharsan reflects on his 61-run knock in Manchester

On Day 1 of the fourth Test match against England, Team India posted a total of 264 runs for the loss of four wickets in 83 overs.

The visitors will resume Day 2 with Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur unbeaten on 19 runs each at the crease.

The highlight of Day 1 was the gritty knock of Sai Sudharsan. After the first match, he was benched for the two games. In the fourth Test match, the left-hander made the cut in the playing XI and is making the most out of the opportunity provided.

In the first innings, Sai Sudharsan played a knock of 61 runs off 151 deliveries, which was laced with seven boundaries. The innings marked resilience, patience and classical shot selection.

Speaking about his knock, the left-hander said that there was a variable bounce in Manchester.

"I mean, there's a bit of variable bounce and two pace wicket as well, and overcast was also there," he said.

Further speaking, he also said that there was a movement with the ball, following which he played a bit tighter and was looking to spend more time at the crease.

"So, throughout the day, it was cloud-covered. Throughout the day, the ball was moving, doing something or the other from the wicket...I thought I played a bit tighter and took some time in the wicket," added the 23-year-old.

The Chennai-born cricketer has already impressed cricket experts, and this knock has just added more praise to his growing reputation as one of the most promising young talents in Indian cricket.

During the innings, opening batsman KL Rahul also scored 46 runs in 98 balls, including four boundaries. With this, he achieved the feat by becoming the fifth batter to complete 1,000 runs in England from India, joining the elite company of Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Along with Rahul, Team India's wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant also achieved the same feat of completing 1000 Test runs on English soil. The left-hander was later forced to leave the field, as he got a hit on his foot while batting. It is yet to be seen if he walks out to bat for India on Day 2.
