In the fifth T20I match against Team India, England secured a victory by 56 runs at The Ageas Bowl in West End. With this, the hosts sealed the five-match T20I series by 4-0.

In an attempt to chase a target of 257 runs, the "Men in Blue" managed to reach 201 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Opening the innings, wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson scored 27 runs in14 balls, including three boundaries and two maximums. Fellow opening batsman Abhishek Sharma also departed after scoring three runs in five balls.

Ishan Kishan registered 56 runs in 35 balls, with the help of seven boundaries and two maximums. Skipper Shreyas Iyer managed to score 28 runs in 16 balls, which included four boundaries.

Facing 25 balls, Tilak Varma garnered 53 runs, laced with three boundaries and four maximums. Shivam Dube scored 14 runs in 10 balls, including two boundaries. Suryansh Shedge and Axar Patel registered seven and three runs, respectively. Facing six balls, Shedge smashed a boundary, whereas Axar faced four balls.

Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna stayed unbeaten on four and one run, respectively. Arshdeep faced five balls, whereas Prasidh faced one ball.

England's Sam Curran returned with the figures of three wickets for 36 runs in four overs. Adil Rashid also bagged two wickets by conceding 24 runs in three overs. Jofra Archer, Josh Tongue, and Liam Dawson bagged one wicket each. Will Jacks went wicketless in the fifth T20I match against Team India.

IND vs ENG 5th T20I: First innings' summary

Earlier, having been put to bat first, England lost the early wicket of Phil Salt. He departed on six runs in nine balls, including a boundary.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler smashed a glorious century. Facing just 64 balls, the right-handed batsman garnered 131 runs, laced with 12 boundaries and eight maximums.

Captain Harry Brook delivered an unbeaten knock of 95 runs in just 45 balls. His knock included four boundaries and eight maximums. Jacob Bethell was dismissed on a one-ball duck. Will Jacks stayed unbeaten on seven runs, which came in two balls, with the help of a maximum. With this, the hosts posted a total of 257 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs.

Team India's Shivam Dube returned with the figures of two wickets for 22 runs in one over. Prasidh Krishna also bagged one wicket by conceding 38 runs in four overs. Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Axar Patel, and Suryansh Shedge went wicketless in the fifth T20I match against the "Three Lions".

The hosts have already clinched the series and will look to secure a win in the fifth T20I match as well. On the other hand, the "Men in Blue" will look to finish the five-match T20I series on a positive note.
