CSK's Ayush Mhatre set to lead India U-19 squad for England tour

Chennai Super Kings' star batsman Ayush Mahtre has been appointed captain of Team India's U-19 squad for the upcoming England tour, as announced by the BCCI's Junior Cricket Selection Committee on Thursday.

The tour, scheduled from June 24 to July 23, will feature a 50-over match, a five-match Youth One-Day series, and two multi-day matches against England U-19.

Mhatre's heroics in the ongoing IPL 2025 have not gone unnoticed. Featuring in six matches, the right-hander has impressed fans by scoring 206 runs.
Earlier, in an IPL 2025 game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mhatre narrowly missed his maiden century, falling just six runs short.

The squad also includes the young prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who gained attention after smashing 101 runs off just 38 balls against Gujarat Titans. This explosive knock earned him the second-fastest century in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.

With this, he also became the youngest-ever centurion in men's T20 cricket. The left-hander concluded the IPL 2025 season with 252 runs in seven matches, including one century and a half-century.

Abhigyan Kundu, who will also serve as the wicketkeeper, has been named vice-captain of the side. Another wicketkeeping option in the squad is Harvansh Singh. The team also features other talented players such as Vihaan Malhotra, Maulyarajsinh Chavda, Rahul Kumar, R S Ambrish, Kanishk Chouhan, Khilan Patel, Henil Patel, Yudhajit Guha, Pranav Raghavendra, Mohammed Enaan, Aditya Rana, and Anmoljeet Singh.

The standby players for the tour are Naman Pushpak, D Deepesh, Vedant Trivedi, Vikalp Tiwari, and Alankrith Rapole, who is a wicketkeeper.

The 'Boys in Blue' will kickstart their tour on June 24. Later, the first One-Day match will be played on June 27, followed by the two matches on June 30 and July 2. The last two One-Day games will be played on July 5 and 7.

Following the white-ball series, the team will play two multi-day matches. The first will take place from July 12 to 15 in Beckenham, and the second will be held from July 20 to 23 in Chelmsford.
