IND vs NZ Tests | 'You will have to give your batters a break as well from white-ball to move into Test cricket': Gautam Gambhir

Team India will clash against New Zealand in the two-match Test series. The first clash will be played from November 19 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.

Ahead of the series, Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir feels that batsmen should be given a break from white-ball cricket to prepare themselves for Test cricket.

"Often for Test match preparation, you will have to give your batters a break as well from white-ball to move into Test cricket, because coming from T20 to one-day cricket is easy," he said on JioStar.

He also feels that there will be very few players left in future who would be capable of playing all three formats of the game.

"Look, ideally for any coach it is very important that as many players play all three formats, the better it is, because continuity in international cricket is very important," said Gambhir.

"So, as much as the coach wants, as much as the selectors want, whatever they do, you will have very few three-format players in the coming times, because you will have to keep rotating your players, whether they are spin bowlers or fast bowlers," he added.

IND vs NZ: Formats, dates, and venues

The series will begin with five T20I matches. The first match will be played on October 22 at the Hagley Park South in Christchurch, followed by the second game on October 24 at the same venue. The third T20I match will be played on October 27 at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington and the fourth game on October 30 at the Eden Park in Auckland. The Seddon Park in Hamilton will host the fifth T20I match on November 1.

The ODI series between Team India and New Zealand will begin from November 4, with the first game to be played at the Eden Park. The second ODI is scheduled to be played on November 7 at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington, whereas the third clash will be played on November 10 at the Seddon Park in Hamilton. The Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui will host the fourth and fifth ODI games on November 13 and 15, respectively.

The cricket fans will then witness a two-match Test series between Team India and New Zealand. The first clash will be played from November 19 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, followed by the second game from November 27 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
