In the second Test match against Sri Lanka, Team India has reached the score of 419 runs for the loss of six wickets in 112 overs at the stroke of lunch on Day 2 at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo.
Team India's wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel are unbeaten at the crease. Both players have already completed their half-centuries and are showcasing their skills against the Sri Lankan bowlers.
Pant has scripted history by becoming Team India's highest run-scorer as a designated wicketkeeper in away or neutral Tests.
Sri Lanka's Asitha Fernando has claimed four wickets by conceding 60 runs in 21 overs. Lahiru Kumara and Keshara Nuwantha have also bagged one wicket each. Prabath Jayasuriya, Sonal Dinusha, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Kamil Mishara are yet to claim any wickets.
Having opted to bat first, Team India's opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 45 runs in 53 balls, including nine boundaries. Fellow opening batsman KL Rahul also scored 18 runs in 33 balls, with the help of two boundaries and a maximum.
Devdutt Padikkal delivered a stunning knock of 117 runs off 193 deliveries, which was laced with 12 boundaries. Skipper Shubman Gill registered 50 runs in 108 balls, which included six boundaries. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was retired hurt on three runs in 15 balls.
Facing 83 balls, Ravindra Jadeja scored 43 runs, including four boundaries. Saransh Jain was dismissed on six runs in eight balls, including a boundary.
The ongoing Test series is one of the important series for Team India in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. The win in the second Test match against Sri Lanka will be crucial for Team India to keep hopes alive for the WTC final.
