The West Indies is set to lock horns with Team India in the fourth T20I match on October 14 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

Ahead of the match, the West Indies' skipper Shai Hope will be eyeing a new record in the format. The star wicketkeeper-batsman is falling short of just one half-century to go level with legendary cricketer Chris Gayle for the record of most half-centuries for the West Indies in T20Is.

Currently, Hope has 15 half-centuries under his belt in the shortest format of the game. Gayle is enjoying the top spot with 16 half-centuries for the West Indies in the T20Is.

Additionally, Hope is 98 runs shy of completing his tally of 2000 runs in the format's history. If he manages to score the required runs, he will then become only the fourth player from his country to reach the feat of 2000 runs.

Before him, Rovman Powell (' 2376 runs), Nicholas Pooran (2275 runs), and Brandon King (2028 runs) have achieved the milestone.

So far, the visitors are trailing the ongoing five-match T20I series by 1-2 against the "Men in Blue", but will look to bounce back in order to keep the series alive.

The Cricket West Indies (CWI) has released a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Hope has been rested, considering an extended run across all three formats of the game. With the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier scheduled for February next year, Cricket West Indies is managing Hope's workload through the period in the lead-up to the tournament.
