India captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and sent New Zealand in to bat in the second one-day international in Jaipur on Wednesday.
The hosts retained the team that won the first match in Guwahati on Sunday by 40 runs to take the lead in the five-match series.
New Zealand welcomed back captain Daniel Vettori, who missed the first game with a back injury. He replaced batsman Grant Elliot, while seamer Tim Southee came in for the injured Daryl Tuffey.
