Former Team India cricketer Joginder Sharma feels that it's time for Chennai Super Kings' captain MS Dhoni to rest.
"Considering Mahi's fitness level, he should play up to prove his fitness, but I believe it is time for him to rest," Joginder told ANI.
In the IPL 2025, after skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to injury, MS Dhoni was handed the captaincy baton of CSK.
To date, Chennai has clinched five IPL titles and 12 playoffs seasons. This year, the side failed to deliver performances in almost all three departments.

Following the poor performances from the side, CSK crashed out of the IPL 2025. There have been speculations about Dhoni's future in the IPL.
What added fuel to the rumours was when his family showed up in Chepauk during the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals. Earlier, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming, too, stated that Dhoni can't bat for 10 overs running to full stick.
Recently, after winning the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, when asked about his retirement plans, the 43-year-old said that he has nothing to decide for now.
"After this IPL gets over, I have to work hard for another 6-8 months to see if my body can take this pressure. Nothing to decide now, but the love and affection I have seen is excellent," MS Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.
The MS Dhoni-led CSK will now lock horns with Rajasthan Royals in their upcoming IPL 2025 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
With his brute force and lightning-quick reflexes with the gloves, Dhoni toppled several records in the 18th season, including featuring in 400 T20s, becoming the oldest player to be adjudged the Player of the Match, securing most wins as a captain and many more.
During CSK's IPL 2023 triumph, Dhoni didn't miss a single match. He led the team from the front and ensured that his troops walked away with their fifth IPL title at the end of the tournament. Months later, the former Indian skipper underwent knee surgery at the beginning of this month to overcome the issue he carried for most of the season.
