The Mumbai Indians have retained their core group of players ahead of the IPL 2026 auctions, but released one of their rising stars from last season, Vignesh Puthur, on Saturday.
Before announcing their releases and retentions, MI traded in Sherfane Rutherford from the Gujarat Titans and Shardul Thakur from the Lucknow Super Giants to trengthen their squad.
Then on Saturday morning, they traded in Mayank Markande from Kolkata Knight Riders.
MI traded out Arjun Tendulkar, who was roped into the franchise at the 2021 auction and had since remained with the side, making his debut in 2023.
Kolkata Knight Riders have released superstar all-rounder Andre Russell, ending a long and decorated association with the franchise. Russell, who was with KKR for Rs 12 crore, headlines a dramatic overhaul that sees the two-time champions part ways with nine players, including six overseas names and high-profile Indian performers.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings have retained a large Indian core while letting go of four overseas players, including star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.
