With the Delhi Capitals' chances of making the playoffs in jeopardy after the team's defeat to the Chennai Super Kings, head coach Hemang Badani wants star spinner Kuldeep Yadav to find his best form again.
DC was able to exert some pressure during the powerplay while defending a below-par 155, but Samson smashed Kuldeep for three sixes in his three overs that went for 34 runs. Kuldeep failed to provide a breakthrough as CSK chased down the total in the 18th over of their innings.
Overall, Kuldeep's IPL economy rate has been around eight, but this season it has surpassed ten runs, and the spinner has only taken seven wickets in ten games.
"We would ideally want Kuldeep to be better than this. But we will rally around him. He's been somebody who's been a part of this side for many, many years. He's done well for many, many years. He can turn this around," Badani said.
Asked if Kuldeep is struggling with form or rhythm, Badani said that the leggie has not reached his peak form yet.
"I think it's more the case of just about somebody's striking form. He hasn't struck peak form yet. He hasn't bowled at the speeds that he would normally bowl. And I think it's a question of time. I mean, we have faith in him and more than anything else, it's crunch time for us. It's quite simple for us. We have to win 4 out of 4. And with 4 out of 4, we still have a chance to qualify." Badani added.
The Delhi Capitals are still in the race for a playoff spot in the IPL 2026. Despite their recent defeat against fellow top 4 rivals CSK, DC still have their fate in their own hands.
If DC manage to win the rest of their matches, they will qualify for the playoff spots, but with their current form, it looks unlikely. In their remaining four matches, Delhi will face Kolkata Knight Riders twice, and PBKS and Rajasthan Royals once.
