Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) continued their dominant run in the TATA IPL 2026, securing a commanding 33-run victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) to climb to the summit of the points table. Heinrich Klaasen was once again the star of the show for SRH with a match-winning knock of 69 runs in 43 balls.
Speaking on JioHotstar, Klaasen discussed the strategy that has made Hyderabad the team to beat this season. He also said that playing according to the situation has helped me score match-winning innings this season for SRH.
"I gave up on the idea that I have to do everything and score at a 300 strike-rate every time I go out to bat. I'm playing the situation in front of me and trying to bat as well as possible within the partnership I'm in." Klaasen said.
Klaasen further praised the form of Nitish Kumar Reddy and admitted that his colleague's good form has helped him play more freely.
'At the moment, I'm very fortunate that a player like Nitish is hitting the ball so cleanly that it takes a lot of pressure off me. I don't have to take extra risks, and I'm just making sure I put the team in a decent position for the bowlers to have enough to defend." Klaasen added.
Heinrich Klaasen has been one of the standout players of the IPL 2026. The former South African star retired from international cricket two years ago to focus on international leagues and spend more time with his family. When asked if he would reverse his decision, he said he was happy with his retired life.
"I've made my peace with it. I've made the right decision, and I'm looking forward to a new chapter in my career. I've been enjoying cricket without international commitments. It gives me a lot of family time and more time back home in South Africa. I would have loved to be in South Africa and finish at the World Cup in 2027, but unfortunately, life doesn't always work out the way you want it to." Klaasen said.
