In the IPL 2026 match against Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged victorious by eight wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
After suffering a loss, MI's skipper Hardik Pandya said, "Not the season. They played better, they bowled better, they fielded better and they batted better. 180-190 should have been a good total. We couldn't get the momentum. It was more about playing calculative cricket. Overall, as a bowling unit, they were better and as a batting unit, we weren't better. The bowling options which we had, we went with it".
With an aim of chasing a target of 160 runs, CSK scored 160 runs for the loss of two wickets in 18.1 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson scored 11 runs in nine balls, including two boundaries. Urvil Patel scored 24 runs in 12 balls, including two boundaries and the same number of maximums.
Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Impact Player Kartik Sharma delivered match-winning knocks. Facing 48 balls, Ruturaj scored an unbeaten 67 runs, including five boundaries and two maximums, whereas Kartik smashed an unbeaten 54 runs in 40 balls, laced with four boundaries and three maximums.
MI's lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Allah Ghazanfar bagged one wicket each. Trent Boult, Krish Bhagat, Impact Player Raghu Sharma, and skipper Hardik Pandya went wicketless in the IPL 2026 match against CSK.
Earlier in the first innings of the match, the "Paltan" posted a total of 159 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
MI lost the early wicket of their opening batsman Will Jacks for one run in five balls. Wicketkeeper-batsman Ryan Rickelton scored 37 runs in 24 balls, with the help of five maximums.
Suryakumar Yadav managed to score 21 runs in 12 balls, including three boundaries and a maximum. Tilak Varma was dismissed for five runs in eight balls.
Later, Naman Dhir smashed 57 runs in 37 balls, including four boundaries and three maximums. Robin Minza was dismissed on five runs in three balls, including a boundary. Skipper Hardik Pandya also returned to the pavilion after scoring 18 runs in 23 balls, including two boundaries. Krish Bhagat and Trent Boult stayed unbeaten. Bhagat scored three runs in six balls, whereas Boult registered seven runs in two balls, with the help of a maximum. With this, the "Paltan" has posted a total of 159 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs against the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team.
Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) Noor Ahmad returned with the figures of two wickets for 26 runs in four overs. Anshul Kamboj also claimed three wickets by conceding 32 runs in four overs. Ramakrishna Ghosh and Jamie Overton also chipped in with one wicket each. Mukesh Choudhary and Prashant Veer went wicketless in the IPL 2026 match against MI.
