Punjab Kings got off to a flying start as they raced to 116 runs in the first 6 overs chasing DC's total of 265 runs. The PBKS opening duo smashed the DC bowlers to all parts of the ground as they scored the second highest powerplay score in IPL history.
Prabhsimran Singh scored 71 runs in 23 balls, bashing the DC bowlers from the start. His innings included 8 fours and 5 sixes as his innings gave PBKS the perfect start as they aim for a record chase. Singh thrashed Mukesh Kumar for 6 fours in the final over of the powerplay as PBKS started off in quick style.
His opening partner, Priyansh Arya, scored 38 runs in just 14 balls, including 1 four and 5 massive sixes. The PBKS opening duo scored the fastest 100 as an opening partnership in IPL this season.
Earlier, the Delhi Capitals scored a mammoth 264 runs in their 20 overs against the Punjab Kings. KL Rahul was the star with the bat for the hosts as he rolled back the years and scored an amazing 152 runs to put DC in a commanding position in the game.
KL Rahul scored an amazing century, dominating the PBKS bowlers from the start. The Indian star scored his sixth century in IPL, and this was also his fastest in just 47 balls. His innings included 16 fours and 9 sixes. Rahul looked back to his best and formed a record partnership with Nitish Rana.
KL Rahul became only the third player after Chris Gayle and Brendan McCullum to score over 150 runs in IPL.
Nitish Rana scored 91 runs in just 44 balls, providing perfect support for KL Rahul. KL Rahul and Rana stitched together a partnership of 220 runs in 95 balls to take DC to a massive score of 264 runs.
