The Gujarat Titans got off to a flying start against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, racing to 104 for no loss in the first 10 overs. Sai Sudharsan led the charge with a blistering 78 off 42 balls.
Sudharsan's knock included 10 fours and four sixes, setting the tone for the visitors as they looked to post a big total against RCB. Shubman Gill played a supporting role, scoring 22 off 18 balls.
For RCB, Rasikh Dar was the most expensive bowler, conceding 23 runs in his two overs. The RCB bowlers will look to stem the flow of runs as the innings progresses.
Earlier, Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and elected to bowl first against Gujarat Titans at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
"I just feel this will be a bowl-first pitch. As you all know, chasing gives us a lot of clarity about the result, the score, and the target. One change - Salty got injured, Bethell comes in. One great point this year is that we are assessing the wicket and the situation pretty well. Of course, there's a lot of planning behind it," said Rajat Patidar.
Shubman Gill said he would also have preferred to bowl first and confirmed that Jason Holder will play his first match of the season.
"Not really; chasing is good here, but hopefully we'll have a good game. It's all about assessing the conditions early, getting off to a good start, and building a strong foundation. Games like that (against MI) can happen in such a big tournament, but we're focusing on the positives. Two changes: Jason Holder comes in, and Manav Suthar is back," Shubman Gill said.
