Former India batsman-turned-commentator VVS Laxman posted this picture wearing the Puneri Pagadi to his 3.2 million Twitter followers yesterday after India beat New Zealand in the second ODI in Pune.
The pagadi, considered to be a symbol of pride and honour in the city of Pune, was introduced in the 19th century by social reformer, Mahadev Govind Ranade, and was later worn by many leaders including famous independence activist Lokmanya Tilak. Laxman's post received over 2000 'likes'
