India's spin-bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule was waxed lyrical about left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav and his âunique ability' to deliver a match-winning spell across all conditions for the Men in Blue.
Yadav's 4-40 in the first ODI against West Indies turned the match in India's favour, and Bahutule expects more of the same from him in the second match here.
"Kuldeep Yadav has always been a match winner for India. He came into a series well prepared and again, he is a player who every team would want to have because he is always lively on and off the field. At the same time, his unique skills help us to perform in any conditions," Bahutule told reporters at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
Ahead of the ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia next year, Bahutule spoke of fine-tuning the bowling combinations.
"These series are a good opportunity for us to also see different types of [bowling] combinations we can have in the team. So that's what the thought process was to give Nitish Reddy the new ball [in the first ODI]. Ample opportunities will be given to all the bowlers in different phases. So you might see Gurnoor [Brar] bowling with the new ball, things like that. When it comes to the fast bowlers, it will be important to see who would actually be the three fast bowlers [that India take to the World Cup], explained Bahutule.
