Indian spinner Manav Suthar secured his first five-wicket haul for Warwickshire during an English County Championship match against Somerset.

Suthar, who signed a short-term contract to feature in two red-ball fixtures for the 'Bears,' finished with match figures of seven wickets, headlined by a spell of 5 for 100 across 46.5 overs in Somerset's second innings.

During the first innings of the match, Suthar returned with figures of 2 for 50 in 18 overs. This came after a solid County debut against Yorkshire, where he took four wickets in the two innings.

Suthar, who recently made his Test debut against Afghanistan with a spectacular 10-wicket match haul, concludes his brief English stint with 11 wickets from his two appearances.

In the ongoing encounter at Taunton, Somerset decided to bat first and were bowled out for 208, largely due to the brilliant bowling of Australian Test all-rounder Beau Webster, who ripped through the lineup with 4 for 23. Both of Suthar's wickets in the first innings came from cleaning up the tail.

Warwickshire responded by posting 330 in their first innings. Suthar chipped in with 28 runs, including three boundaries and two maximums, building on his previous scores of 33 and 37 in his debut game.

Somerset put up a far better batting display in their second turn, scoring 435 runs as the surface became noticeably easier to bat on.

However, Suthar had initially put Warwickshire in a commanding position by taking three quick wickets to leave Somerset reeling at 148 for 6. He opened his account by dismissing Jordan Hermann (34), who was caught in the deep while attempting a slog sweep. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (12) followed soon after, undone by a clever piece of bowling where Suthar fired the ball wide out of reach as the batsman charged down the track, resulting in a stumping.

Night-watchman Josh Shaw (22) was the next to go, caught in the slips, off Suthar. Suthar later returned with the ball to wrap up the lower order to seal his maiden five-wicket milestone in the English County Championship.
