"We are in a very good place now. There will be no excuses." Aussie all-rounder Shane Watson is very clear about his team's Ashes ambitions. "Since the Ashes loss (in 2009) everything has been geared to getting everything right before this first Test," Watson was quoted as saying by AAP.
The action kicks off tomorrow at the Gabba, Watson's former home ground when he was a Queenslander. He now represents New South Wales.
Pundits reckon the occasion may overawe even the senior pros. "It's the biggest moment for an Australian cricketer to be part of an Ashes series especially when we need to win the Ashes back.
"It's no doubt going to be a huge challenge - the way it can swing around, the seam movement and bounce (at the Gabba),' said Watson, who will open the batting with Simon Katich. Australia have not lost an Ashes series at home since 1986-87 when Mike Gatting's team beat Allan Border's side.
