The city is on a high security alert because of Sunday's ODI between India and New Zealand. Both teams are staying in a hotel called Landmark which is just a stone throw away from the venueu00a0-- the Nehru Stadium. A solitary wall divides the stadium and the hotel premises.

Due to this short distance, most Indian cricketers have preferred to avoid the team bus to get to the ground and walk along with security guards.

However, on Saturday, a senior cop in Assam police requested the Indian team manager to instruct the players to use the bus and not walk down the street.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Western Range, Pallab Bhattacharya, told SUNDAY MiD DAY: "This city is always on high alert. We are ready to arrange a car for the players before and after the match if they are reluctant to take the team bus."
