Ace shuttler and Rio Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu was yesterday appointed as Deputy Collector, a Group-1 service post, in the Andhra Pradesh Government.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu personally handed over the government order to Sindhu in the secretariat here.
Meanwhile, recognising the performance of Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj during the recently concluded ICC World Cup, the Ministry of Railways has promoted her to the post of OSD (sports) in Hyderabad, headquarter of South Central Railway (SCR). "Approval of the ministry is communicated for grant of out of turn promotion to Mithali Raj as Group 'B' Gazetted post of OSD (sports), in recognition of Indian team's performance in the World Cup," a letter from Railway Board said.
