The former all-rounder feels India are primed to succeed in this tournament and is confident Mahendra Singh Dhoni will find himself lifting his fourth ICC trophy. The Indian captain has already led the side to wins at the inaugural World T20 in 2007, the World Cup in 2011 and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

So what makes Shastri so confident about India's prospects?

"India is showing the same confidence which helped them claim the Champions Trophy title. What's more they are playing on a surface that is conducive to spin bowling which is their strength," he told mid-day.

"The spinners bowled 12-14 overs in the first two games and they were highly effective," he added. Shastri also felt restricting Pakistan and the West Indies to 130 and 129 respectively reflects the true strength of the India team.

He believes Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja are the men who will take the team to victory. "Mishra is in top form. He is creating a web in front of the batsmen by flighting the deliveries and spinning the ball and the results are there for all to see," he concluded.
