Sachin Tendulkar became the first cricketer to score a double century in one-day internationals as India as amassed 401 for three in the second game of the three-match ODI series against South Africa here on Wednesday.

Tendulkar scored an unbeaten 200 off 147 balls (25x4s, 3x6s). He eclipsed the previous individual highest score of 194 recorded by Pakistan's Saeed Anwar and Zimbabwe's Charles Conventry.

The Mumbai Mauler remained unbeaten on 200 while skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 68 not out in the stipulated 50 overs at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium. Earlier, Dinesh Karthik slammed 79.

The South African bowlers were sent on a leather hunt and the Proteas would now find it very difficult to prevent India from winning the series under the Gwalior lights. Unless of course, the India's bowling wheels collapse. India got out of jail in the previous one-dayer in Jaipur which they won by one run.
