The managing committee of the Mumbai Cricket Association yesterday decided to name the press box of the Wankhede Stadium after late politician and Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray

MCA president Ravi Savant along with joint secretary Dr PV Shetty and committee member Nadeem Memon met Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray yesterday morning to seek the family's consent over the planned honour.

"Uddhav was very happy when we approached him with this suggestion. He said it was an honour," an MCA official told MiD DAY.

A proposal was mooted in the last Annual General Meeting to name the press box after Thackeray. But the members left the decision on the managing committee.

The managing committee also decided to name the MCA's Bandra Kurla Complex Stadium after their former president Sharad Pawar. The official naming will be done at a later stage.

Meanwhile, it is learnt Prof Ratnakar Shetty heard the recording yesterday in which he alleged that an MCA official was involved in black marketing of 150 tickets of India vs Pakistan T20 match at Ahmedabad in last December.
