The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named spinner Prema Rawat as a replacement for injured all-rounder Shreyanka Patil in India's squad for the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup 2026.
Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament after sustaining an ankle injury while fielding during India's match against the Netherlands on Wednesday.
Following Patil's injury, the BCCI announced Prema Rawat as her replacement in the squad for the ongoing global showpiece.
Prema has been a part of India A, where she picked up eight wickets in five games during the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. With seven wickets in three matches, she was also the joint-leading wicket-taker in India A's tour of Australia.
So far in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup, the "Women in Blue" under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur have secured two wins in as many games. They began their campaign by registering a victory by 64 runs against the arch-rivals, Pakistan, at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
Recently, they defeated the Netherlands by 95 runs at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds.
Team India's star batswoman Smriti Mandhana is the leading run-scorer with 142 runs with an average of 71.00. The bowling chart is also dominated by an Indian player. Shree Charani is enjoying the top spot on the list of players with the most wickets. She has bagged seven wickets in two matches. Deepti Sharma is in the third place with six scalps.
Team India will take on South Africa in the upcoming fixture on June 21 at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Greater Manchester.
