Teenaged sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi said that getting picked in India's T20I squad is the "biggest step" of his career, and he has no words to explain the feeling behind it.
The 15-year-old cricketer was picked in India's T20I squad for the white-ball series against Ireland and England, following his explosive run in the concluded IPL 2026.
"Words can't explain it. The reason I picked up a bat from day one and went to the cricket ground for practice, and today that dream is fulfilled," he said in a video post by the official social media handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
"The biggest step in the journey was completed today. I truly cannot put this feeling into words," added Sooryavanshi.
The left-handed batsman also expressed his views when he unboxed the national team's jersey with his name imprinted on the back.
"I just felt it like a dream, the moment I saw that T-shirt. I couldn't stop smiling. Sometimes, something happens that you never even imagined could happen and when it finally does, you don't know how to react. That's what exactly I felt," he said.
The "Men in Blue" under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer will begin the two-match T20I series against Ireland from June 26. The first clash is scheduled to be played at the Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast. The second clash against the Irishmen will take place on June 28 at the same venue.
Later, Team India will engage in a five-match T20I series against England. The first game will be played on July 1 at the Banks Homes Riverside in Chester-Le-Street, followed by the second T20I on July 4 at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Greater Manchester.
The third T20I match between Team India and England is scheduled to be played on July 7 at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in West Bridgford. The fourth and fifth T20I matches will be played on July 9 and 11, respectively. The Bristol County Ground will host the fourth match, and the fifth game will be played at the Utilita Bowl in West End.
After concluding the T20I series, both teams will engage in the three-match ODI series, beginning from July 14.
