Yuvraj Singh's blistering double ton against Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai gave enough indications of his urge to get back his Test spot.
The southpaw's unbeaten 204 in 194 balls propelled Rest of India XI to 387 for three declared in their second innings on Day Four, setting an improbable target of 782 on the final day of the Irani Trophy here yesterday.
Yuvraj was reminded that India were probably missing his services in Mohali where they were under the gun against Australia in the first Test.
India need 161 runs to win with six wickets in hand. Yuvraj, who has fallen out of favour with the national selectors, refused to read too much into the Mohali Test.
"I don't care about the timing. I was trying hard to regain my form. I was away from the game for a month because of injury. I wanted to score a big knock to get my confidence back. I am happy to do that," said the skipper.u00a0
Having secured a massive 394-run lead in the first innings, Yuvraj did not think that the declaration came late. "The pitch is flat and it is difficult to get our opponents out twice. Our bowlers were tired so I thought of giving them some rest. That is why we decided to bat again instead of enforcing a follow-on."
Meanwhile, Abhishek Nayar said Mumbai would fight hard to live up to their reputation. "We have learnt our lessons and one bad outing would not affect us much. We are a good side and have been doing well," he said.u00a0
