In the third ODI match against England, Team India suffered a loss by 27 runs at the Lord's Cricket Ground in the City of Westminster.
With this, the hosts clinched the three-match ODI series by 2-1.
After the loss, former Team India cricketer Yuvraj Singh said that he is more concerned about Yashasvi Jaiswal as he is not getting enough game time.
"More than Virat and Rohit, my concern is that Yashasvi Jaiswal is not starting. If the World Cup comes and he hasn't had enough game time, he's suddenly going to feel the pressure," he told JioStar.
During the match, Rohit Sharma smashed 138 runs off 110 balls, including 17 boundaries and five maximums, whereas Virat Kohli played a knock of 74 runs in 60 deliveries, laced with four boundaries and three maximums.
Speaking about their future, the former cricketer said that Team India's management needs to decide on which players should play in the playing XI. He also stated that the management should back them both by saying that they won't be dropped if the think tank wants them to feature in the ODI World Cup 2027.
"You need to have that clarity from the coach, captain and selectors, whoever it is. I have been in that position, which Rohit and Virat find themselves in. So, it's not fair for us to judge whether they should play. It's the team management, the coach and the selectors who have to decide that," said the 44-year-old former cricketer.
"If you want them to play the World Cup, you have to put your hand on their shoulders and tell them, 'Guys, we want you to play the World Cup. We are backing you all the way. Go out there and be yourselves. There is no stress that tomorrow, if you don't have a good series, that you're not going to be in the team," he added.
After concluding the series against England, the "Men in Blue" will lock horns with Zimbabwe for the three-match T20I series. The first match between Team India and Zimbabwe is scheduled to be played on July 23 at the Harare Sports Club.
