In the first ODI match, Team India's stalwart Virat Kohli endured a poor outing with the willow at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Facing eight balls, he returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs

Ahead of the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval, the right-hander will be looking to achieve greatness in the 50-over format

Kohli is just 54 runs shy of becoming the second-highest run-scorer in the history of One-Day Internationals (ODIs). So far, he has 14,181 runs under his belt, and is placed in the third spot below Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara

If the Delhi-born cricketer manages to score a century in the second ODI match against Australia, he will become the player with the highest number of centuries in a single format. Currently, Virat Kohli (51 tons in ODIs) and Sachin Tendulkar (51 in Tests) are equal owners of record for most centuries by a batter in a single format. A century could help the 36-year-old to take his ODI century tally to 52

A century will also help Kohli surpass Tendulkar's record of the most overseas centuries by an Asian batsman. Currently, both players are tied at the top with 29 centuries each in overseas conditions
