England's Joe Root, who has been on a mission to break the long-standing records in the traditional format of the game, will be looking to add another feather in his illustrious career
Ahead of the fourth game of the five-match Test series against Team India, Root is falling short of just 120 runs to close the gap between him and legendary Australia captain Ricky Ponting to become the second-highest run-scorer in the format
Currently, the Englishman is placed in the fifth spot on the list with 13,259 runs in 156 Test matches for the 'Three Lions'. Above him are Rahul Dravid (13,288), Jacques Kallis (13,289), Ponting (13,378), and Sachin Tendulkar (15,921)
If Root manages to accumulate a tally of 120 runs in the fourth Test against India, he will then surpass Ponting to seal the second spot on the list
The 34-year-old will then aim to surpass the run tally of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, inching closer to achieving the highest Test glory in the history of the game
