Having needed to chase a target of 256 runs, New Zealand's wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert scored 52 runs in 26 balls, including two boundaries and five maximums. Fellow opening batsman Finn Allen scored nine runs in seven balls, including a boundary (Pic: File Pic)

Later, skipper Mitchell Santner scored 43 runs in 35 balls, including three boundaries and two maximums. James Neesham was dismissed for eight runs in seven balls, including a boundary. Matt Henry and Jacob Duffy were dismissed on zero and three runs, respectively. Henry's knock ended in one ball, whereas Duffy's knock came to an end in five balls. Team India's lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah returned with the figures of four wickets for 15 runs in four overs. Vice-captain Axar Patel claimed three wickets by conceding three wickets in three overs. Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Abhishek Sharma bagged one wicket each. Arshdeep Singh went wicketless in the T20 World Cup 2026 final against the "Black Caps".
