During the T20 World Cup 2026 match against Scotland, West Indies' Shimron Hetmyer slammed 64 run-knock in just 36 deliveries, which was laced with two boundaries and six maximums

He completed his half-century in 22 balls. With this, he surpassed legendary batsman Chris Gayle, who scored a half-century in 23 balls

Hetmyer now holds the record for the fastest half-century registered by a West Indies batsman in the history of the T20 World Cups

On the other hand, opening batsman Brandon King played a knock of 35 runs in 30 balls, including four boundaries and a maximum

With this, he surpassed Gayle on the list of most runs for the West Indies in the T20 Internationals. Currently, Kings has garnered 1916 runs in 79 matches and is placed third on the list. Gayle has ben slipped to fourth place with 1899 runs in 79 T20I appearances for the Caribbean side
