Making their debut in the girls U-16 Division-II Dream Sports MSSA inter-school football tournament, Oberoi International School's JVLR and Goregaon branches stormed into the semi-finals, following dominant victories at Wings Sports Centre (Bandra) on Wednesday.
Oberoi International JVLR secured a convincing 3-0 win over Somaiya School (Vidyavihar). Ziana Verma set the pace in the 12th minute, with a precise shot to give her side a 1-0 advantage going into half-time. After the break, the Oberoi (JVLR) girls maintained their grip on the game. Zoe Srikanth doubled the lead in the 20th minute with a powerful strike, beating Somaiya goalkeeper Eshani Rachh all ends up. Three minutes later, Zoe got her second, calmly tapping the ball in off an assist from Ziana.
Earlier in the day, Oberoi International (Goregaon) delivered an equally impressive display, outclassing Fazlani L'Academie (Mazgaon) 6-0. Meira Choksi (2nd, 24th, 27th min) netted a fine hat-trick while Anoushka Nettimi (13th and 17th min) scored a brace with Samika Agarwal adding one (10th minute) in between.
