Kylian Mbappe
The bitter dispute between Kylian Mbappe and his former club Paris Saint-Germain reached the French labour court on Monday for a tense hearing in which the France captain claimed he was due â¬263mn (Rs 2700cr), while PSG responded by demanding he pay them â¬440mn (Rs 4545cr).
Mbappe, who wasn't present at the hearing, argued through his lawyers that PSG owes him that money because his fixed-term contract should be reclassified as a permanent one. Such a reclassification would trigger compensation for unfair dismissal, unpaid wages, bonuses, and severance.
Meanwhile, PSG said they are basing their figure in part on a botched â¬300mn (Rs 3082 Cr) transfer to Saudi club Al Hilal which Mbappe refused in June 2023, and instead decided to leave the club on a free transfer to Spanish giants Real Madrid the following summer.
The tribunal's decision is expected to be given on, Dec 16.
