MSSA inter-school football World Cup: Cathedral begin title defence with 1-0 win over St Lawrence

Cathedral and John Connon School (Fort) began their boys U-16 Div-I title defence with a hard-fought 1-0 win over St Lawrence High School (Borivli) in a Pool A match of the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school football World Cup Fiesta at Azad Maidan on Tuesday.

Arjun Vijay scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute, chipping the ball past the advancing St Lawrence goalkeeper Naman Gala.

In another Pool A encounter, St Anthony's High School (Malwani) beat Rustomjee Cambridge International School (Dahisar) 1-0, with Nirmit Rango scoring the winner.

The tournament also marked the return of MSSA football to Azad Maidan after a gap of six years.
